The thick proprietary paper filters (20-30% heavier than typical paper) remove fats and oils that other methods leave behind producing an exceptionally clean and tea-like cup. The hourglass shape and wood collar are functional first — the collar protects fingers from the heated glass. Borosilicate glass is heat-resistant and dishwasher-safe.
